About the Artist
Kristine T. Bouyoucos was born and grew up in Norway. A talented printmaker, Bouyoucos was also an avid weaver for many years, and has become an eager creator of Artist Books. Some of her books have been seen at the Rochester Rundel Library, San Francisco Center for the Book, as well as the Center for Book Arts in NYC, among others.
Bouyoucos has been associated with art groups including Tempo, Arena, and Print Club of Rochester. The 27th Annual Exhibition of Tempo was exhibited at RoCo in 1996 featuring works by Bouyoucos and 19 other female artists.
In Rochester, Bouyoucos has worked with the Austin Harvard Gallery, the Esmay Fine Arts Gallery, Oxford Gallery, and Shop One at RIT. Her work is also represented in private and corporate collections throughout the US – including in the permanent collection of the Memorial Art Gallery – as well as the UK and her native Norway.
In addition to the Tempo show at RoCo, Bouyoucos also presented a solo exhibition in RoCo’s Lab Space called Visual Rhythms.
Other group shows at RoCo featuring work by Bouyoucos included several Members Exhibitions, Makers & Mentors 2013, and Fibrous Extremities in 1993.
RoCo’s Davis-Havens Sales Gallery offers artworks of all styles at a range of prices, all to benefit Rochester Contemporary Art Center. Hundreds of artworks, which have been donated by collectors (and some artists), are rotated on view regularly. Artworks have been given expressly for this ongoing fundraiser so prices are often significantly discounted. All proceeds from the sale of these artworks support the long term future of RoCo.
Our Future Fund Featured Find is a new initiative highlighting a different artwork and artist each month.
