Ossification

May 3, 2002 - July 5, 2002

Ossification is an installation by Lyn Parsons as part of the Cultural View: Windows in Rochester project, in which the Sibley Center donates illuminated window space in return for one-year commtiments from various institutions to fill the window with their own professional displays. Parsons' installation deals with issues of anxiety, fear, and the way human tissue stiffens to protect itself from pain. It features two ceramic chairs and a brick wall made from afghans, which have been dipped in porcelain slip and fired.
