About Artist and Carbon Records

Carbon Records is a small independent record label based in Rochester NY run by Joe Tunis. Carbon started releasing records in the spring of 1994, with April 2019 being its 25th anniversary. Carbon Records has released more than 240 releases, in all formats, including vinyl LPs and 7" singles, CDs and homemade CDRs, cassettes, as well as floppy disks and physical hard-drives. It started out as a vehicle for local artists, but has grown to include national and international artists. The catalog primarily focuses on free-improv/noise, drone, experimental, and outsider genres.
