6×6 Art-Making with Rosa V (Prieta)

March 7, 6-9pm

Join us for a 6x6 art-making event on First Friday, March 7. Local artist Rosa V (Prieta) will lead an activity to help you make an artwork for 6x6.

Be filled with the Taino Spirit!
Language was first to be forbidden during colonization. Let’s bring the Taino language back to Life! The Taino people were indigenous to the Caribbean. Come experience their story through language and art - create a Taino inspired artwork for the 6x6 exhibition!

Rosa will lead two sessions, beginning at 6:00pm and 7:30pm.
Admission is $2 / free for members.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Rosa Vargas (Prieta) began her artistic career as a teenager in Washington Heights with dreams of becoming a fashion designer. She weaves together her Afro-Caribbean lineage with the immigrant experience she had as a child traveling from The Dominican Republic to the U.S. Her creations are inspired by her African and Taino roots. Hers is a story of pride for family, community, and celebrating her indigenous ancestors through art. @prietaart
